New in 2018, you cannot transport a whole deer carcass across the state line. This is someone’s idea of curtailing the spread of CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease). Although there is probably a better solution to the problem, you must obey the law. Believe me, this will be aggressively policed at our state’s border.
Please don’t bring us whole carcasses from any of these states, the CWD areas of PA-See map- or any of the other CWD states-See PAGC website for full list.
The problem is the brain and spinal column, as these cannot come into PA. This means, head, if a buck must have brain tissue removed-simply saw off horns and remove brain tissue and no part of the spine, including the tail can be transported to PA. CWD Press Release
If you wish to have it mounted, you will have to have it done in the state you got the deer. Sorry-but this is the new law, unless you can cape it and remove the skull yourself.
